I have no idea about the clip you used before, but the Pomona 5250
plastic compound is not very hard and contacts are not very robust,
so after some (ab)use it will certainly also wear out.

These clips are test tools for occasional use, not development tools.

You can obvioulys use them for development anyway, but keep in mind
what they are designed for, so that you have the right expectations.
