CPU feature.  From what I have seen, embedded platforms seem to be a 
bit more developer friendly then normal x86 hardware.

With just a small stack you can probably create much denser
code at boot time. Especially since you don't have to inline
everything.  On the flip side cpu developers especially on the bleeding
edge seem to be inovating with caches a lot so it is an easy way to
run into cpu bugs.
