summary:
voyage linux serial console works with two versions of v3
busybox serial console fails with two versions of v3
we get kernel messages for all four combinations.
they all boot and the network works.
For each one, an ls -l of /dev/console and /dev/ttyS0 look correct.

Well ...  ok. Send me dmesg for voyage and busy with newest v3

It's a userland problem, I think, but I am not sure what.
