A nice method of desoldering soic pins is to use a 26 swg enamelled 
copper wire. Pass the wire under the ic and between the pin. Tug the 
wire so that it slides under the pin while heating the pin. You end 
up with the pin clear of the board. Can also be used to remove the 
entire chip without damaging the ic or the board.
