Did you add the VGA options (CONFIG_CONSOLE_VGA=1,CONFIG_PCI_ROM_RUN=1) 
to Config.lb before the buildtarget?  This is crucial to making the 
issue exhibit itself -- without these options, it compiles cleanly for 
me, as well.  After adding them, a "cleaned" target dir has linking 
errors, whereas a "dirty" target dir (make was run without these 
options) will compile cleanly.
