Patch Set 2:

it's possible to get the backlight frequency value the option rom intended to set (with wrong computation) using "intel_bios_reader --file=oprom"(or simply ran under root on system booted with option rom). On gm45 with CCFL backlight it seems they set it quite high, probably to compensate bad computation.
intel_bios_reader is part of intel-gpu-tools
