3rd resolder, 8th read attempt now. I haven't got two matching files

positions each time.
I'm happy to upload/send the files & logs somewhere if they'd be useful to
Tomorrow I'll try and find something else that will recognise & read
this. The chip came from a working board so I know the ROM is good.
Is the chip still soldered to the board? I guess not because of your
wording, but I really don't have any idea where these symptoms could
come from if not.
It wasn't for any of these tests, but it is right now. I put it back

The pads on the original board might not last if I desolder and
resolder a couple more times... so I've bought some SOP->DIP breakout
boards that should arrive in a couple of days.
I suppose I could just etch my own if there's any suggestions or
further tests in the mean time.
Your logs show

shows up as «6.2 ("v6.2-beta1")». Have you looked at that as a possible
That's the firmware I'm using. The latest from their google code
