I find this is true of a lot of utilities. Why is there not a simple step by step How to.. ? I have looked over the documentation and now I know how to make a donation but to hell if anything even gives me a hint as to how I flash my BIOS.

The one link that I can find that says "How can I use flashrom?" looks like:

1

.TH FLASHROM 8 "Jun 06, 2010"

2

.SH NAME

3

flashrom \- detect, read, write, verify and erase flash chips

4

???????????????????

Does that mean anything to anybody?

Please, I need to flash my ASUS p5b Deluxe motherboard. What do I do?

Download the BIOS version I want to use and burn it to a disc?

Burn flashrom onto the same disc?

I'm sure people put a lot of effort into flashrom, but it is utterly pointless if nobody can use it or you need a background in computer science, because that makes it useful to such a small group that whats the point?
