coreboot's toolchain is only used to build "target" code, i.e. the
coreboot itself. There are some tools to be compiled for the host,
however, during the build process. As we usually only build a cross
compiler, the original host toolchain will always be used for the
tools.

It's most likely the build of such a tool that fails. If you can
update your host toolchain, that's probably the best thing to do.
