The intent was to state the facts of the situation, which are difficult to say the least. If people want to say "BLOBS are bad", that's fine. If people start saying "Google does not understand ..." that is really not fine at all, because it is claiming knowledge that people do not have; and, the fact is, it's not at all nice to tell the people who are working so hard to remedy the blob situation that they don't understand what they're doing. I'm probably more frustrated than anyone with the BLOB mess, and that's part of why all my coreboot efforts go to RISCV nowadays. ron

Ok Ron, We all recognise your efforts and don't deny that the question of the binary blobs" is a very complex and "politicaly hot" one.. But (and I speak here from a STRICTLY personal point of view) it is the fashion you chose to lecture Paul than I found not very nice.. I sense a trace of elitism in your atitude (like you "GODs" have the exclusive right to acces some secrets and we "mere mortals" have even no right to think about these "things"..) I for one cannot swallow that!.. set for a raid system

Hi, can anyone suggest me a motherboard that is suitable to set up a small backup server, say 10TB, using some flavour of RAID (and running coreboot of course) ? Thanks

[ANN] CBMEM console enabled by default; distributors, please rebuild images

Dear coreboot folks, thanks to (mainly) Kyösti’s awesome work, CBMEM console [1] is now enabled by default in the master branch. So, if you distribute coreboot based firmware and have not enabled these two options yet, please publish new images from latest master and upload the board status. Note, that on AMD AGESA boards, romstage message are still not preserved in CBMEM. Please also test change set #8023 [2], Enable COLLECT_TIMESTAMPS by default, which enables storing time stamps in CBMEM by default. That said, I was silently working on securing rooms (lab+lecture hall) for a coreboot conference at Bonn-Rhein-Sieg university near Bonn, Germany sometime during this summer/fall. So far it looks like we might be able to get such rooms for free and accommodation at reasonable prices. Plus, Cologne Cathedral is close to the venue. We could try to combine both approaches from a timing perspective and have the European end of the video conference at the venue I'd organize, and get the American end set up in San Jose. coreboot meeting this summer!

Hey folks! the coreboot meeting in Prague last year was a great success, and I suggest that we have a get together this year. To alternate between continents, I would like to organize a coreboot project meeting in San Jose, California this summer. I have talked to a few people, and it seems that end of June could be a good time frame for this. If you are interested in joining this summer, if you have ideas, or concerns, please contact me, so we can get the planning started as soon as possible and make this happen.
