will it work?

though my motherboard my not be on the list is it not their because it just dosent work? or lack of reasearch, i have a asus a7v333, and a abitkx7333r, both via chipsets, what are the possibilities of getting the linuxbios on them? and could i totaly destroy my computers if im not sucessful? thanks

Hi, I have the custom board (geode sc1200) with peripherals like ethernet, PCI audio video decoder, Tuner, hard disk, SDRAM, Flash memory. I will have to have my BIOS program, linux kernel and specific application program in my Flash memory. I have hard disk only for storing files. My Flash memory is of 32 Mbits and SDRAM 32MBytes. I want to use LinuxBios. I build it for nano mainboard. But still I have many doubts. In normal BIOS, we will say the bios program to load the bootloader from hard disk into location 0000:7C00. What part of the program in Linuxbios will bring my linux kernel image from Flash into SDRAM? Is any options or something to be included in the configuration file to say to boot from Flash memory. In my embedded device the Flash memory is mapped to physical address 00000h to 3FFFFFh. So at what location should i place the linuxbios romimage and linux kernel image in my Flash memory? Where shall my application program be placed in Flash? I hope I should have a filesystem. Is the MTD meant for the filesystem? BIOS Savior works on Tyan Tiger MPX (S2466N-4M)

Folks, I successfully installed a BIOS Savior RD1-PMC4 on my Tyan Tiger MPX (S2466N-4M) today. It works just fine, but I cannot identify the Flash chip on it (0x9d/0x6e) -- if anyone knows how to track this down, I'd love to know. In the meantime I forced it to work with Steven James's flash_tool program. The flash chip that Tyan shipped with the board is a SST49LF040. I presume the RD1-PMC2 would work on the older Tiger MP board. I can't say whether Tyan's DOS-based flash utility works with this beast or not. I can't get it to run at all on my machine -- it complains that himem.sys is loaded, even on a boot disk that doesn't contain himem.sys! I tried a handful of other flash utilities but none of them would ID the BIOS Savior chip for me. Regards, Jeff

Tiger MPX & LinuxBIOS

Howdy, I'm the newbie du jour. I'm attempting to get Linuxbios working on an EPIA 533 and a Tyan Tiger MPX (S2466N-4M). I was able to build an EPIA BIOS w/o trouble using the Howto. Applying the same principles to the Tiger, I am running into trouble. Can someone please help? Ron, How about the support of Option rom execution for on board device? Some device vendors only provide option rom instead of datasheet. Regards Yinghai Lu

Hi, I'm having bad luck with the AMD Quartet machines currently. Due to the 4 memory controllers I had to take out quite some debug messages from auto.c to get it compile, but I don't really get to that point anyways.. all I get is the following: LinuxBIOS-1.1.0Fallback Do Aug 7 16:05:24 CEST 2003 starting... setting up resource map.... done. Enabling routing table for node 00000000 done. Enabling SMP settings setup_remote_node setup_remote_done Renaming current temp node to 00000001 done. Enabling routing table for node 00000001 done. [long delay here] Renaming current temp node to 00000002 [long delay here] done. Enabling routing table for node 00000002 [long delay here, then reset:] LinuxBIOS-1.1.0Fallback Do Aug 7 16:05:24 CEST 2003 starting... setting up resource map.... done. Enabling routing table for node 00000000 done. Enabling SMP settings [complete hang] this worked some time ago in CVS, but I don't know when it stopped. Can the resource map cause these problems? I dumped the resource map I am using from a different quartet machine, and now I get the same problems than I had before with the default resource map. It looks to me like it's a bad idea[tm] to set the resource map at all before knowing anything about the machine's resources. debugging... Stefan

what are actually the differences between DoC 2000 and DoC Millennium? are both versions working in linux? which one is the newer product? are they electrically (pins, voltage, etc) different? are there any limitation in the size of these chips? i mean -- could a 2GB chip be used on linux? niki
