I agree that modern OSes all supports IOAPIC. However, it might not be correct to just completely drop the support for PIC mode. OSPM still uses the _PIC Method to indicate the mode it is using and there can be cases where PIC mode might be required. Example: Testing using noapic in Linux kernel.
