since both Angel and Martin had/have already +2ed this patch, i'll +2 it to be able to submit it. i haven't checked this patch against the docs, but even if it has some bugs remaining, it won't cause any regression, since this just adds new support and doesn't change the behavior of the existing code on the already supported platforms
