I've implemented most of this after checking register dumps after booting with MRC. Without this patch, nearly all of the registers don't have the expected values, which means MRC doesn't do it.

If you checked, please put that in the commit message. In the
long run it may be more interesting what the code is based on,
but for review and regression assessment, it's crucial to know
what changes.

I currently stare too much at code already during the day, but
I'll try to find more time for review soon.
