ThinkPad T420 and FireWire chip on Linux

Hello, Recently I have decided to give a try to coreboot for first time and flashed my ThinkPad T420, but a few weeks ago I have swapped the USB controller on the back, next to the battery, with a FireWire/USB controller (40GAB5809-G200) from another T420. Nothing special, since some models have been shipped like this. The controller is no longer accessible on my laptop. It seems like it may have been detected as an "SD Host Controller" or not detected at all. I will probably have to remove the chip and compare the output of lspci and lshw. If nothing has changed, I will probably have to return the stock BIOS and compare the results again. I have also tried to load some of the firewire kernel modules manually with modprobe. The operating systems I have tested so far are Arch Linux and Xubuntu. I am willing to provide more useful information, boot into a fresh Windows install, flash the chip again or whatever else. Correct me if I am wrong, but if I go back to the stock BIOS, the next time I flash, I will have to disassemble the laptop again and otherwise I must be fine with flashing internally, right? Thanks

For part of processors with the same SKU and steping (Atom C3538), lapic #4 in devicetree.cb needed (95%), and for the other part lapic #0 (5%). Intel confirmed that it might be so and that's okay ... Reserve Device DRAM

I would appreciate any guidance on the proper way to reserve (arbitrary) DRAM for a MMIO device in coreboot such that the Linux driver for that device is also able to map the reserved DRAM. IRQ routing: how to do the mainboard_picr_data/_intr_data structures?

Dear friends, I'm trying to properly program the IRQ tables for Lenovo G505S, because the old IRQ routing is bad and doesn't work for a simple OS like Kolibri. Full details are in the comments under this change: https://review.coreboot.org/c/coreboot/+/46587/ When I used the old picr_data/intr_data values of G505S for the new structures, I got only 1 IRQ working. However, with a copy-paste of AM1I-A - surprisingly 12 IRQs and a laptop boots, but still some problems. Flashing coreboot and Intel Flash Descriptor Erase Issue

Hello Everyone, We are using SPI flash(Macronix) to program the BIOS. And we use an external programmer to flash the BIOS (coreboot including FD+ME) into SPI Flash (16384 kB, SPI), it works fine and boots well. The board is functional and we have successfully booted a kernel on it. Am working on adding a feature to upgrading the BIOS (complete IFD+ME+Coreboot) using intel-spi driver at the OS level. Able to successfully take the backup full 16MB spi nor flash data which includes IFD+ME+BIOS using flashrom Internal Programmer option and it is identified as Opaque flash chip and using dd command as well. But we are seeing the erase fail through both flashrom and flash_erase utility. I believe it fails to erase at the flash descriptor location. As far as Read/Write access to the SPI regions, I have enabled the Host CPU BIOS write access and ME Master Access as 0xFFFF through Intel FIT Tool but still not able to erase it and it fails. Is there anything that could be preventing to enable read/write access to the Intel flash descriptor or any SOC SPI controller protection to access the Flash descriptor? Native RAM init

hello, Is there a way to extract mrc.bin from a normal(not chromehook rom) bios binary from the flash dump? There's no chromebook available with the Atom N2600 chip. There is one with Atom N570, but will it work? If not then I want to know if native ram init is supported in CedarTrail chipsets. I think it should be because Sandy bridge is supported and they were simillar(I think). CedarTail has no FSPs available on github so I must have to build the non-FPS version.....which means I cannot get mrc.bin.

amd_blobs submodule update issue when using git sup alias and how to fix it

Hi! Quick heads-up: In [1] I updated the submodule pointer of amd_blobs so that it now tracks the new official repository [2]. Since the new repository and the old don't have common ancestors, using the git sup alias to update the submodules, that rebases the changes, will fail causing git to fall back to a 3 way merge. Since the new repository contains updated firmware blobs, that merge also fails.
